Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has issued a stern warning regarding an imminent heatwave set to grip Karachi over the next three days. According to Sarfaraz, temperatures are anticipated to surge beyond the 40-degree Celsius mark, reaching as high as 42°C on May 29, May 30, and May 31. This forecast is attributed to the suspension of the sea breeze, exacerbating the already scorching conditions in the city.
The entire province of Sindh, along with various parts of Balochistan, is currently experiencing heatwave conditions, prompting the provincial government to urge citizens to prioritize hydration and take necessary precautions to combat the extreme weather.
Earlier advisories from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had highlighted the likelihood of oppressive heat in Punjab and Sindh due to elevated pressure levels in the upper atmosphere. As temperatures continue to climb, concerns mount for residents across the region.
Highlighting the severity of the situation, Sarfaraz disclosed that Mohenjo Daro recorded a staggering 52.5°C, underscoring the intensity of the heatwave. The weather expert emphasized that similar conditions are expected to persist in the ancient city.
