Karachi experienced an unusually chilly morning as the mercury plunged to 9.1°C, marking one of the city’s lowest temperatures in recent years. The sudden cold spell caught many residents off guard, with brisk winds adding to the wintry feel.
Meanwhile, Quetta, known for its frigid winters, recorded a bone-chilling -4°C, making it the coldest city in Pakistan. The drop in temperatures has heightened demand for warm clothing and heaters across the country.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) attributes this cold wave to a strong westerly weather system, which is expected to persist for the next few days. Citizens have been advised to take precautions, especially during the early morning and nighttime hours when temperatures are at their lowest.
Karachiites, unaccustomed to such cold weather, have taken to social media to share their experiences, with many jokingly calling it “Karachi’s winter wonderland.” In contrast, Quetta residents are bracing for harsher conditions, as more snowfall is predicted in the surrounding mountainous areas.
The PMD has urged travelers to exercise caution in fog-prone areas and mountainous regions due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
