Karachi, Pakistan – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that Karachi may receive up to 100 millimeters of rainfall today, raising the risk of urban flooding in several parts of the city.
Heavy showers are expected to be accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, particularly in low-lying and densely populated areas. The city’s administration has placed emergency and drainage teams on high alert, while residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
Meteorologists caution that such intense rainfall could overwhelm Karachi’s already strained drainage system, leading to severe traffic disruptions, power outages, and waterlogging. Rescue services have been instructed to remain vigilant to respond to emergencies.
Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures, warning that the situation could worsen if the downpour persists through the evening.
