The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain in Karachi on Sunday and Monday as a new monsoon system approaches the city. According to the recent weather patterns, Karachi is expected to experience a wet start to the week, with the skies remaining predominantly cloudy.
On Saturday, Karachi’s weather was mostly cloudy, with stronger-than-usual sea breezes bringing some relief from the city’s persistent humidity. Wind speeds reached up to 38 kilometres per hour (21 nautical miles), while the maximum temperature recorded was 31.5°C, with humidity levels at 75 percent.
Light rain and drizzle were reported in several parts of Karachi, including Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area, Rashid Minhas Road, Sharae Faisal, and University Road.
The PMD forecasts that Karachi’s weather will remain mostly cloudy over the next three days, with a high likelihood of rain on Sunday and Monday. The maximum temperature during this period is expected to range between 31°C and 33°C.
In addition to Karachi, light rain is also predicted in rural districts of Sindh, including Jacobabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Larkana, and Sukkur, on August 13.
As Karachi prepares for the anticipated rains, residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates and take necessary precautions against potential disruptions. While the upcoming rains may offer relief from the heat, they could also pose challenges to the city’s infrastructure.
