Karachi, August 15, 2024 – Karachi is set for heavy rain and thunderstorms until Monday, according to a warning from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The PMD says a weather disturbance will affect eastern Sindh, including Karachi.
The heavy rain could cause flooding in the city’s low-lying areas and sewage channels, affecting its population of over 20 million people.
The warning also covers other parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, and areas in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh.
There is also a risk of flash flooding in several places, including Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Buner, Saidu Sharif, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Balakot, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galliyat.
The PMD advises everyone in these areas to be cautious and stay updated on weather changes through Monday.
