KARACHI: Helvetas Pakistan, Indus Crafts Foundation, and the Research & Development Foundation will host an exhibition to showcase the work of flood-affected artisans from Sindh province on December 30th and 31st, 2024, at the Pakistan Arts Council in Karachi.
This event aims to spotlight the creativity and resilience of Sindhi handicraft artisans, whose work is not only a representation of cultural heritage but also a critical source of livelihood for rural families, particularly women.
The devastating floods of 2022 severely impacted the artisans in Sindh, disrupting their lives and professions. In response, Helvetas Pakistan, Indus Crafts Foundation, and the Research & Development Foundation have established four dedicated Working Spaces for women artisans in the Khairpur and Tando Allahyar districts. These centers will be inaugurated on December 25th and 27th, 2024, providing a platform for empowerment and skill development.
As part of the initiative, 374 women artisans will receive essential toolkits to aid in reviving their craft.
This exhibition represents a significant step toward rebuilding lives, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting the economic recovery of flood-affected communities. The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate the artistry and determination of Sindhi artisans.
