Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received a formal invitation from King Charles III to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) this October in Samoa. This summit marks King Charles’s first time chairing the event since becoming the head of the Commonwealth in September 2022.
PM Sharif accepted the invitation, highlighting the summit’s importance in fostering collaboration among member nations. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to Commonwealth values and the urgent need to address critical issues such as sustainable development and climate change, particularly given Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate impacts.
During the call, the Prime Minister also expressed his best wishes for the health of King Charles and sent congratulations to the Princess of Wales on her recent recovery. The summit is expected to facilitate vital discussions on shared challenges and opportunities within the Commonwealth community.
