In a significant move towards sustainable energy, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has embarked on a comprehensive solar energy initiative. This year, KP authorities are overseeing the transition of 1100 schools, 3050 mosques, and various business centers in Khyber district to solar power.
The initiative has already yielded impressive results, with over 900 mosques and places of worship now generating 1.73 MW of electricity daily. This switch to solar energy is expected to result in substantial savings, amounting to millions of rupees monthly.
Haji Iqbal Afridi, Member of the National Assembly representing Khyber, reaffirmed these efforts during a recent meeting focused on the progress of solarization projects. The initiative is being closely supervised by the Provincial Energy Development Organization (PEDO), marking a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future for the region.
