Free Meals Announced for Urban Primary School Children Across Provincial Divisional Headquarters
In a landmark decision aimed at bolstering welfare initiatives, Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired a crucial meeting where it was decided to provide free meals to children in primary schools across urban areas of all divisional headquarters in the province.
Key stakeholders including Provincial Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai and Chief Minister’s adviser on finance Muzamil Aslam were present, along with officials from the Allahwale Trust and government administration.
Initially, the program will be piloted in Abbottabad and Swat, eventually expanding to other divisional headquarters. Approximately 70,000 children are expected to benefit daily from this initiative, estimated at an annual cost of Rs500 million, funded by the provincial government.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the program aligns with his government’s commitment to enhancing social welfare and increasing school enrolment. He highlighted that such initiatives reflect the vision of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, focusing on maximum resource allocation for public welfare.
To expedite implementation, the social welfare department will collaborate with the Allahwale Trust under a Memorandum of Understanding.
