In a significant development for education in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has secured an agreement with London University to commence its educational activities in Lahore. This collaboration marks a key step in bringing world-class education to the region.
As part of a major educational initiative, the Chief Minister is working to provide access to renowned global institutions for students in Punjab. Plans are also underway to attract more international universities to the province.
Following the Chief Minister’s directive, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb met with Professor Wendy Thompson, Vice Chancellor of London University, and a delegation of educational experts. The discussions included launching a semester exchange program and inviting the University of London to establish an office in Punjab.
Maryam Aurangzeb announced that the Chief Minister has increased the number of scholarships for talented students from 30,000 to 50,000, with 60% allocated to girls under a transparent system.
“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we are modernizing the education system in Punjab, improving curriculums, teacher training, and school infrastructure,” stated the Senior Minister. Efforts to establish the National University in Murree are also in progress.
Professor Wendy Thompson commended the Chief Minister’s dedication to enhancing education and governance in Punjab. Notably, London University currently provides educational services in 199 countries worldwide.
This agreement signals a new era for education in Punjab, with transformative efforts underway to uplift academic standards and opportunities for the province’s youth.
