Pakistan’s first female lieutenant general, Lt Gen (R) Nigar Johar, has been officially appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Women Empowerment in a move that highlights the government’s commitment to promoting gender equality and inspiring women across the country.
The appointment was announced by the Ministry of Human Rights during a special ceremony held in Islamabad. The event was attended by key officials, civil society members, and representatives from women-focused organizations.
Lt Gen (R) Nigar Johar, a trailblazer in the Pakistan Army’s history, is widely respected for her exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and pioneering role in breaking gender barriers in the military. As the first woman to achieve the rank of lieutenant general and serve as the Surgeon General of Pakistan Army, her appointment is seen as a powerful message of inclusion and progress.
