Six members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were eliminated in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Balochistan’s Pishin districts on Wednesday.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spearheaded the operation in Pishin district of Balochistan, where four TTP terrorists met their demise. Among the deceased was the notorious sharpshooter of the TTP, Shakar Din, also known by his alias Umar Khalid, whose elimination marks a major success in the ongoing battle against extremist groups.
The operation unfolded in the Surkhab area of Pishin district, specifically within a refugee camp, where a proactive search operation was conducted by the Balochistan CTD. A fierce encounter ensued, leading to the exchange of gunfire resulting in the neutralization of the four TTP militants. The operation also led to the recovery of an extensive cache of arms and ammunition, underscoring the group’s intent to carry out further acts of violence.
Simultaneously, in Lakki Marwat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, another IBO was carried out against the TTP, leading to the death of two more terrorists. The successful coordination between the security agencies in two different regions sends a strong message that extremist outfits will face relentless pressure from law enforcement agencies working in tandem.
The elimination of these six terrorists is a significant blow to the TTP’s operations and showcases the effectiveness of intelligence-based operations in preempting potential acts of terrorism. The security forces have been commended for their commitment and determination in safeguarding the nation against threats posed by such banned outfits.
The government has reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. These recent operations serve as a reminder that the fight against terrorism is an ongoing battle that requires continuous vigilance and collaboration between security agencies.
