Karachi experienced a significant power outage on Sunday when a K-Electric extra-high tension line tripped, leading to multiple grid stations shutting down and widespread electricity disruption across the city.
Areas affected included Korangi, Lyari, Kharadar, Defence, I.I. Chundrigar Road, PECHS, Saddar, Site Area, North Karachi, and North Nazimabad, leaving residents and businesses grappling with prolonged outages.
K-Electric, the city’s primary electricity provider, issued a statement acknowledging the outages, citing a “limited technical fault” as the cause. The company assured citizens that it swiftly initiated restoration efforts.
A spokesperson for K-Electric confirmed that power supply had been restored to the majority of areas. However, full restoration in Lyari and Baldia Town was still in progress as of Sunday evening.
The outage disrupted daily routines and sparked frustration among residents, who urged K-Electric to improve infrastructure and prevent such incidents in the future.
