A 26-year-old man, Angrez Singh, from Fazilka district in Punjab, India, was apprehended for allegedly impersonating his girlfriend, Paramjeet Kaur, during a recruitment examination conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. The examination, held on January 7 at DAV Public School in Kotkapura, was for the post of female multipurpose health worker.
According to police reports, Angrez Singh went to great lengths to disguise himself as Paramjeet Kaur. He shaved off his facial hair, applied makeup, and even affixed a photograph of himself dressed as a woman over Kaur’s photo on the application form. Singh managed to enter the examination hall using fabricated documents, including a fake Aadhaar card, voter card, and I card made in Kaur’s name.
In an attempt to convincingly imitate Kaur, Singh donned a bindi, lipstick, and a ladies’ suit. However, his elaborate scheme began to unravel when officials became suspicious during the examination. The picture on the application form did not match the appearance of the candidate in question.
Angrez Singh, a resident of Saharan Nagar in Fazilka, claimed during initial interrogation that Paramjeet Kaur was a relative. However, further investigation revealed that they were not related. Kaur, aged 34 and hailing from Dhani Munshi Ram village in the same district, had previously failed in her attempt at the exam.
Singh was arrested briefly and later released on bail, as the police initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The incident has raised concerns about the security measures during recruitment examinations, prompting authorities to review and strengthen the process to prevent such incidents in the future.
