A Mari Petroleum Company chartered helicopter crashed near the Shiwa Oil Field in North Waziristan shortly after takeoff due to a technical fault. The MI-8 helicopter was carrying 14 passengers, including three Russian pilots and crew members, as reported by Express News.
Tragically, six individuals lost their lives in the crash, while eight others sustained injuries. The injured have been transported to CMH Thal, and further medical evacuations via helicopter are underway.
According to initial reports, the helicopter experienced an engine failure shortly after takeoff. During an attempt to make an emergency landing, the tail rotor struck the ground, leading to the crash. Authorities have confirmed no signs of sabotage, and an investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the incident.
