Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz on Monday inaugurated the province’s first ‘Electro’ electric bus project in Sahiwal, marking a significant step toward sustainable public transport in the region.
The project, launched under the Punjab government’s green initiative, aims to reduce carbon emissions, cut fuel costs, and provide affordable, eco-friendly travel for citizens. Equipped with modern technology, the electric buses will operate on key city routes, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel vehicles.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Maryam Nawaz said the initiative reflects her government’s commitment to modernizing Punjab’s transport sector and tackling climate change. She added that similar projects would soon be expanded to other major cities, including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan.
Local residents welcomed the project, expressing hope that it would improve daily commuting and reduce pollution levels in Sahiwal.
