The results for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been officially announced, revealing a competitive performance among aspiring medical students.
According to a spokesperson from Khyber Medical University, Fatima Zahra Ali and Muhammad Mudassir have topped the exam, each securing an impressive score of 194 marks. Muhammad Hazeel and Waheedullah closely followed in second place with scores of 193 marks.
In a remarkable display of talent, eight candidates jointly achieved the third position, all scoring 192 marks. The candidates are Muhammad Hamza Ali, Kanwal Akhtar, Kashan Waheed, Zobia Anas, Muhammad Abdullah Khan, Syed Mujtaba Hussain, Amna Riaz, and Azam Khan.
The MDCAT, held nationwide under the supervision of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), took place on Sunday. The University of Health Sciences (UHS) had previously requested law enforcement agencies to implement strict security measures to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the examination.
The spokesperson further highlighted that the test was conducted across 13 centers in seven districts of the province, with a total of 41,671 students participating. Of these, over 24,000 students qualified for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), while more than 21,000 qualified for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Additionally, 670 students scored between 180 and 200 marks.
To maintain order during the MDCAT examination, Section 144 was enforced, with strict legal consequences for violators. Advanced surveillance technology was deployed at examination centers to ensure a fair and transparent process. Candidates were also warned against unethical practices, with severe penalties in place for any cheating attempts.
The MDCAT witnessed a significant turnout, with a total of 58,380 students registered in Punjab, 38,678 in Sindh, 42,329 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5,806 in Balochistan, 18,408 in Islamabad, 3,145 in Azad Kashmir, and 739 in Gilgit-Baltistan. Furthermore, 259 international students also participated in the examination.
As the results unfold, the success of the candidates reflects their hard work and dedication, paving the way for their future in the medical and dental fields.
