The cost to perform Hajj in 2025 has surged beyond Rs. 1.1 million for the first time, as inflation and rising service charges have significantly increased the financial burden on Pakistani pilgrims.
According to sources within the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the basic cost of Hajj packages has seen a sharp hike due to rising airfares, accommodation fees, and logistical charges in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims now face a minimum of Rs. 1.1 million for the entire trip, including travel, accommodation, and various other services.
Many potential pilgrims are concerned that the increased cost could make it even more difficult for ordinary citizens to afford the pilgrimage, with some calling for more government intervention to subsidize the cost or provide financial assistance.
Religious leaders have expressed concern over the growing expense, which is believed to be out of reach for many families, particularly in the face of the current economic crisis.
