Islamabad, October 10, 2025 — Mobile and internet services have been temporarily suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid heightened security concerns, according to official sources.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the decision was made as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order during sensitive security operations and upcoming public gatherings in the twin cities.
A senior government official stated that services were suspended in several key areas early Friday morning and are expected to be restored once the security situation stabilizes.
“The step has been taken to ensure public safety and to prevent the misuse of communication networks,” the official added.
Residents of both cities reported disruptions in mobile signals, internet access, and social media connectivity, leading to communication difficulties for commuters and businesses.
Authorities have urged the public to remain patient and cooperate with law enforcement agencies while security measures remain in place.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not yet announced a specific timeline for the restoration of services.
