Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s newly appointed captain for white-ball cricket, has arrived in Melbourne with his squad, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The team touched down on Wednesday to begin preparations for their upcoming series against Australia.
The squad, led by Rizwan, includes vice-captain Salman Ali Agha along with players Abdullah Shafiq, Aamer Jamal, Saim Ayub, Kamran Ghulam, Haseebullah, and Arafat Minhas.
Commenting on the team dynamics, Rizwan expressed confidence in their lineup, saying, “We have created a combination of young and senior players. We’ve included some players from the Champions Cup, while Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq are excellent players; we will miss their contributions.”
Key players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah had arrived a day earlier. Babar, known for his massive fan following, was greeted by a crowd eager for selfies at the airport.
Babar, Shaheen, and Naseem had previously been rested following their underwhelming performances in the recent Test series against England. Their return to the ODI series, which begins on November 4, marks an opportunity to showcase their resilience and skill.
The series promises a blend of experience and emerging talent as Pakistan aims to make an impact against a strong Australian side.
