In a shocking and heartbreaking incident in Karnataka, a woman in the Ramnagar area has been arrested for selling her one-month-old baby to pay off her husband’s debts.
According to reports from Indian media, the mother of five was reportedly facing financial pressures after her husband accumulated a debt of Rs 150,000. In a desperate bid to resolve the issue, the wife proposed selling their newborn child to a childless couple. Despite her husband’s strong objections, she went ahead with the plan.
The father, unaware of the sale, later reported the child missing to the police. He initially claimed that his wife told him their son was ill and had been taken to a hospital by a relative. However, when the baby failed to return home the next day, a heated argument ensued between the couple.
Following the husband’s complaint, police interrogated the mother. She initially tried to mislead them but eventually admitted to selling her child to a woman from Bengaluru for Rs 1.5 lakh. The police swiftly arrested the mother, and investigations are ongoing.
This disturbing incident has left the local community in shock, raising questions about the lengths some individuals may go to in the face of financial hardship.
