YouTube star MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, and Amazon are facing a lawsuit filed by participants of the highly anticipated reality game show, “Beast Games.” The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses the production of mistreating contestants, who allege unfair working conditions, unpaid wages, and sexual harassment.
According to the complaint, participants claim they were subjected to grueling conditions, including lack of meal breaks, insufficient rest, and unsafe working environments while competing for the $5 million cash prize. Over 1,000 contestants reportedly took part in the game show, which has been described as the world’s largest live competition.
Variety reported that the plaintiffs, identified only as Contestants One through Five, are seeking class-action status for the lawsuit. They allege that Amazon and MrBeast’s production company, MRB2024 LLC, exploited their labor and failed to provide proper medical care, food, or basic hygiene during the competition. Portions of the lawsuit detailing allegations of sexual harassment were redacted to maintain privacy.
One female contestant, identified as Contestant Five, expressed her disappointment, stating: “I wanted to join because I was a fan of MrBeast… I didn’t think I would be treated like nothing.” She further noted that the environment for female participants was particularly hostile.
The lawsuit seeks compensation for unpaid wages and expenses, along with unspecified damages. Amazon declined to comment, and there has been no response from MrBeast regarding the allegations.
The release date for “Beast Games” has yet to be announced, but Amazon promotes it as “the world’s largest live game show” with the biggest prize in television history.
MrBeast, known for his philanthropic ventures and record-breaking YouTube following, has built a reputation for high-stakes challenges and creative content. However, this lawsuit casts a shadow over the much-anticipated game show, raising questions about working conditions behind the scenes.
