To enhance the protection of children’s personal information, the government has announced the introduction of an updated B Form for children above 10 years of age, featuring advanced security measures.
The updated format, developed under the guidance of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, will be issued starting January 15. The enhancements were implemented with the collaboration of the National Authority for Data and Registration (Nadra). The new form will include fingerprint impressions and photographs of applicants to bolster data security.
Interior Minister Naqvi highlighted that these measures aim to safeguard children’s personal information and curb crimes such as the creation of fake identity cards, illegal passport issuance, and human trafficking.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Interior Affairs detailed that children above 10 years of age must report to a Nadra centre with their original birth certificate and a parent or legal guardian to provide their thumb impressions and photographs.
Furthermore, children aged 10 to 18 must present the new B Form when applying for a passport. The older format, lacking photographs and fingerprints, will no longer be valid for children in this age group.
The government’s initiative underscores its commitment to enhancing security measures and protecting the identities of young citizens.
