KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that major renovation and upgradation work at the National Stadium Karachi will begin next month, aimed at modernizing the historic venue ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
According to PCB officials, the renovation project will focus on improving seating arrangements, player facilities, media enclosures, floodlights, and spectator amenities, bringing the stadium in line with international standards.
“The National Stadium is one of Pakistan’s most iconic cricket venues, and this renovation will ensure it remains a world-class facility for both players and fans,” a PCB spokesperson said.
The refurbishment plan is expected to be completed in phases to avoid disrupting the domestic cricket calendar. Engineers and design experts have already conducted feasibility studies and inspections to ensure safety and modernization compliance.
The project comes as part of PCB’s broader infrastructure development program, which includes upgrades to stadiums in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan in preparation for future ICC tournaments and Pakistan Super League (PSL) seasons.
Officials added that the Karachi project will also incorporate sustainability measures, such as energy-efficient lighting and enhanced water management systems, to promote environmentally responsible operations.
Cricket fans have welcomed the decision, expressing excitement over the stadium’s modernization and improved viewing experience.
