In preparation for the upcoming Ramadan season, Saudi authorities have announced a set of new rules for Iftar gatherings in Madinah. The new regulations aim to ensure the safety, health, and comfort of the millions of pilgrims and residents who observe fasting during the holy month.
According to the new guidelines, Iftar meals in public spaces must be served in pre-packaged containers to minimize contact and ensure hygiene. Public Iftar tents, which are traditionally set up throughout the city, will also have limited seating to maintain social distancing. Authorities have stressed the importance of adhering to these measures to prevent overcrowding, particularly near religious landmarks such as the Prophet’s Mosque.
Additionally, food distribution will be carefully monitored, and food safety standards will be strictly enforced. Volunteers and local charities have been encouraged to collaborate with city officials to organize Iftar meals in an orderly and regulated manner.
Madinah’s city council also announced that public transport will be enhanced to facilitate smooth movement around the city during Iftar times. Special arrangements are being made to ensure that traffic disruptions are minimized, and pilgrims can reach their destinations on time.
These new rules are part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to maintain safety and order during the Ramadan festivities, while ensuring that the spiritual significance of the month is preserved for all those observing it.
