The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a grave warning about an impending severe drought across Sindh, Balochistan, and parts of Punjab due to prolonged dry weather and below-average rainfall.
According to the PMD’s latest advisory, the water crisis in these provinces is expected to worsen in the coming months, affecting agriculture, livestock, and daily life. The department has urged authorities to take immediate measures to manage water resources and minimize the impact on communities.
Experts highlight that the lack of sufficient rainfall has depleted groundwater levels, raising concerns over drinking water shortages and reduced crop yields. Farmers and residents in affected areas are already facing difficulties, with reports of drying canals and reservoirs.
The government is being urged to implement drought mitigation strategies, including water conservation initiatives and emergency relief measures, to tackle the looming crisis.
