Rahim Yar Khan — Khwaja Tareef Gulshan, alias Teefi Butt, a high-profile gangster wanted in the murder of Ameer Balaj, was killed in an alleged police encounter on the outskirts of Rahim Yar Khan early Saturday. The Crime Control Department (CCD) confirmed the killing.
Officials say that Teefi Butt was under police custody and being transported from Lahore when his accomplices ambushed the police convoy in the Kot Sabzal area of Sadiqabad. During the ensuing firefight, Butt was reportedly shot dead by his own associates while a constable was wounded.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation to apprehend the attackers. The body of Teefi Butt has been moved to a local morgue for post-mortem examination.
Authorities are now investigating whether his death occurred in crossfire or was a targeted operation. Teefi Butt was believed to be involved in multiple serious crimes including murder, extortion, and weapons offenses.
