The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced an increase in the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), effective from February 1, 2025. This hike is expected to impact domestic and commercial consumers across the country.
According to the latest notification issued by OGRA, the new LPG price per kilogram has been increased by Rs. X, bringing the total cost of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder to Rs. Y. The increase comes in response to rising international prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate.
Market analysts predict that this price hike will add to the financial burden on consumers who rely on LPG as a primary energy source, especially in remote and rural areas where pipeline gas is unavailable. Many households and small businesses are expected to feel the effects of this surge, leading to concerns over affordability.
Industry experts have urged the government to explore measures that can stabilize fuel prices, ensuring relief for the masses. Meanwhile, OGRA has stated that the revised prices align with global market trends and currency exchange fluctuations.
Consumers and LPG distributors are advised to take note of the updated prices, as enforcement will begin from midnight. The regulatory authority has also warned distributors against overcharging and has assured strict action against any violations.
