In a bizarre turn of events, 28-year-old Cody Adams is facing new charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle to make it to his court hearing for a previous unauthorized vehicle use case.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Adams was at a gas station in Stillwater, desperately seeking a ride to his scheduled court date in Pawnee. Unable to find transportation, he reportedly seized an unoccupied pickup belonging to LifeNet Emergency Services, which had been left running.
Adams drove himself to the courthouse, and despite being arrested, he managed to attend his court hearing, where he was facing charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and bringing contraband into a jail. He was apprehended after being spotted by a trooper, who noted that Adams “ditched” the stolen vehicle upon arrival.
After the hearing, Adams was taken back to Payne County, where he was charged with vehicle larceny and issued a $10,000 bond. The incident has raised concerns about vehicle security, particularly for emergency services, and serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of criminal behavior.
As this story develops, Adams awaits his day in court, where he will face the consequences of his actions.
