Lahore – In a major step towards sustainable transportation, Pakistan has partnered with China to accelerate green mobility initiatives in Punjab. The collaboration focuses on introducing electric vehicles (EVs), enhancing charging infrastructure, and promoting eco-friendly public transport solutions.
According to officials, the Punjab government, in partnership with Chinese firms, plans to roll out thousands of electric bikes, buses, and rickshaws across the province. The initiative aligns with Pakistan’s goal of reducing carbon emissions and combating air pollution, especially in cities like Lahore, which frequently rank among the world’s most polluted.
Chinese companies are expected to invest in manufacturing and assembling EVs locally, making them more affordable and accessible to the public. Additionally, the project includes establishing a widespread EV charging network to support the growing demand for electric transportation.
Experts believe that this collaboration will not only reduce dependency on fossil fuels but also boost Pakistan’s economy by creating jobs in the green technology sector. The move is part of the broader China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, which has already facilitated significant infrastructure development in the country.
With air pollution and climate change posing severe threats, Pakistan’s shift towards green mobility marks a crucial step in ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable future.
