The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has secured the 7th position among the world’s most powerful air forces, according to the Global Firepower assessment.
The ranking is based on the total aircraft inventory, which includes fighter jets, helicopters, and support aircraft. With an impressive fleet of 1,434 aircraft, the PAF is recognized as one of the largest air forces globally.
The report highlights that the United States leads the global rankings, boasting an unmatched air power capability with 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft. The U.S. dominance is fueled by an $800 billion annual defense budget, accounting for nearly 40% of global defense spending.
Following the United States are Russia, China, India, South Korea, and Japan, each maintaining significant air fleets. Russia ranks second with 1,554 helicopters and 809 fighter jets, while China, in third place, has heavily invested in modernizing its air force, including the development of a sixth-generation fighter jet and supersonic aircraft.
India, South Korea, and Japan secure the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively, with air fleets numbering 2,296, 1,576, and 1,459 aircraft.
Pakistan’s 7th position reflects its substantial air power, with a well-rounded fleet of fighter jets, helicopters, and support aircraft. Egypt, Turkey, and France complete the top ten, with air inventories of 1,080, 1,069, and 972 aircraft, respectively.
This achievement underscores the PAF’s role as a significant player in global military aviation.
