MULTAN – Pakistan and Bangladesh have advanced to the final of the fourth T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, eliminating Sri Lanka and Nepal in decisive semifinal clashes on Sunday.
In the first semifinal, Pakistan delivered a commanding performance against Nepal. Bowling first, Pakistan restricted Nepal to 94/7 in their 20 overs, with Durga Datta contributing 40 runs. Matiullah was the star bowler for Pakistan, taking three wickets for just five runs in his four-over spell.
Pakistan’s openers, Kamran Akhtar and Babar Ali, made the chase look effortless. Kamran blazed his way to an unbeaten 63 off 21 balls, smashing a record-breaking fifty in just 14 balls. Pakistan achieved the target in only 5.3 overs without losing a wicket.
The second semifinal between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was a nail-biter. Bangladesh set an imposing target of 244, with Mohammad Salman top-scoring with 97 off 49 balls. Sri Lanka fought hard, with their batsmen putting up a valiant effort, but fell just short, finishing at 238 in their 20 overs. Salman’s all-round brilliance earned him the player-of-the-match award.
The final between Pakistan and Bangladesh will take place on Tuesday at the Multan Cricket Stadium, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
