General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), embarked on a significant official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, marking another milestone in the historic diplomatic and military relations between the two brotherly nations.
During his visit, COAS General Munir engaged in a series of high-level meetings with key Turkish leaders, including H.E Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Foreign and Defense Ministers, the Commander of the Turkish General Staff, and Commanders of the Turkish Land and Air Forces.
A central theme of these meetings was the enhancement of defense collaboration and training cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. COAS General Munir commended the Turkish Military for its tireless efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region and lauded the exceptional standards of operational readiness displayed by the Turkish Armed Forces.
In a gesture of gratitude and solidarity, Turkish leaders acknowledged the dedicated efforts of Pakistan Army Engineers who collaborated with NDMA Teams during a devastating earthquake that struck Türkiye earlier this year.
As a mark of respect to the great leader, COAS General Munir visited the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara, where he paid homage and laid a floral wreath in honor of Atatürk’s legacy.
At the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, COAS General Munir received a warm welcome and was presented with a Guard of Honour, symbolizing the strong bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Türkiye. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening defense relations between the two countries, COAS General Munir was conferred with the prestigious Legion of Merit by the Minister of Defense and the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces.
During the award ceremony, COAS General Munir reaffirmed the enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, stating, “Pakistan and Türkiye have strong brotherly relations which have always stood the test of times. Pakistan Army is always willing to extend full support to the Turkish Land Forces in multiple domains. Pakistan has always stood with their Turkish brothers in times of calamity and moments of triumph and shall continue to strengthen the fraternal ties amongst the two nations.”
