The Pakistan Army’s swift and strategic response to cross-border firing incidents led to the Afghan side signaling a ceasefire, effectively de-escalating rising tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier, official sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to security officials, the confrontation began after unprovoked fire from across the border targeted Pakistani posts near the Torkham sector. The Pakistan Army retaliated immediately and effectively, neutralizing the threat and ensuring no civilian casualties occurred on the Pakistani side.
Reports indicate that following the Pakistan Army’s strong defensive action, the Afghan side communicated a ceasefire message, which was acknowledged through established military coordination channels. Calm has since been restored in the affected area.
Military analysts credited the Pakistan Army’s rapid operational readiness and command structure for preventing further escalation, while also emphasizing the need for sustained diplomatic engagement to prevent similar incidents in the future.
