In a significant breakthrough, the Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with Chinese experts, has discovered vast natural gas reserves in the Arabian Sea. According to initial reports, the reserves are estimated to be among the largest offshore finds in recent years, promising to boost Pakistan’s energy security and economic growth.
The joint exploration mission was carried out under Pakistan–China maritime cooperation, where advanced survey technology and drilling support were provided by Chinese partners. Officials say this discovery could substantially reduce Pakistan’s dependence on costly fuel imports, while also strengthening the country’s strategic energy position in the region.
Experts believe that once operational, the offshore reserves may supply industries, households, and power generation facilities for decades. Authorities have termed this development a “game-changer” for Pakistan’s economy, while also highlighting the strengthening of Pakistan–China energy and defense cooperation.
