The Pakistan Navy has officially added a new indigenously designed gunboat, PNS Sahiwal, to its fleet. The state-of-the-art vessel was launched at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works and is part of Pakistan’s push to enhance self-reliance in defense production.
The gunboat, equipped with long-range semi-automatic guns, will significantly enhance the Navy’s operational readiness and maritime security. Built in collaboration between the Pakistan Navy’s Platform Design Wing and local shipbuilders, this project is being hailed as a major step forward in indigenous military capabilities.
During the launch ceremony, senior naval officials praised the achievement and revealed that the production of more such vessels is under consideration. The PNS Sahiwal symbolizes a growing emphasis on strengthening the country’s naval forces using local expertise and resources.
