Karachi, October 9, 2025 — Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a significant discovery of natural gas reserves in Sindh, marking a promising development for the country’s energy sector.
According to an official statement, the discovery was made during exploration activities in the company’s operated block located in the southern region of Sindh. Preliminary tests indicate substantial gas flow, suggesting the potential to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s domestic energy supply.
PPL officials stated that the discovery could help reduce the country’s reliance on imported fuel and support the government’s efforts to enhance energy security. “This discovery is a testament to our continued focus on exploration and the efficient utilization of Pakistan’s indigenous resources,” a PPL spokesperson said.
The company is now conducting detailed evaluation and testing to determine the full extent of the reserves and the feasibility of commercial production.
Sindh remains one of Pakistan’s most resource-rich provinces, accounting for a major share of the country’s natural gas output. The latest find is expected to bolster the province’s role in sustaining national energy production.
