Karachi/Washington: In a landmark development for energy cooperation, Pakistan has received its first-ever shipment of crude oil from the United States, marking a new chapter in bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
According to official sources, the shipment arrived at Karachi Port earlier this week and is part of Pakistan’s efforts to diversify its energy imports and reduce dependency on traditional suppliers in the Middle East. The move also aligns with Islamabad’s strategy to secure competitive oil prices amid global market volatility.
Energy ministry officials confirmed that talks are underway to establish a long-term supply framework with U.S. exporters, which could significantly enhance Pakistan’s refining capacity and energy security.
Analysts view this as a positive step in strengthening Pakistan–U.S. economic ties, noting that it could pave the way for broader collaboration in energy technology and infrastructure.
