Islamabad – Pakistan has been chosen as the host nation for the Women’s 50-over World Cup qualifiers, marking a historic moment for the country’s cricketing landscape. This will be the first time Pakistan hosts a multi-team women’s ICC event, further solidifying its growing influence in international cricket.
The qualifiers will feature six teams: Pakistan, Scotland, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the West Indies. The tournament will play a crucial role in determining which teams secure spots in the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in collaboration with the International Cricket Council (ICC), is finalizing the schedule and venues for the tournament. Cities under consideration include Karachi, Multan, and Faisalabad, which have hosted major international events in the past.
Pakistan’s successful hosting of various cricket tournaments, including bilateral series and domestic women’s competitions, has strengthened its case for organizing global events. This milestone is expected to provide a significant boost to women’s cricket development in the country.
In addition to the qualifiers, Pakistan is also preparing to host the 2028 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, reinforcing its role as a key player in international women’s cricket.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from cricket fans and players, with many hoping this event will inspire a new generation of female cricketers in Pakistan.
