Pakistan has witnessed a significant surge in mobile phone imports, totaling a record Rs535 billion in the fiscal year 2023-24, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
This marks a substantial 291.45% increase compared to the previous year’s imports in rupee terms.
In June 2024 alone, imports amounted to Rs117.265 billion, showing a strong 419.90% growth from the same month last year.
Overall telecom imports for the fiscal year reached Rs632 billion, reflecting a robust 147.36% annual increase.
June 2024 recorded a remarkable 232% year-on-year growth in telecom imports, totaling Rs161.484 billion.
