ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – In a significant development, Pakistan conducted a successful flight test of the Ababeel weapon system, as announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
The test, the latest in a series of trials of the ballistic missile system, aimed to re-validate various design aspects, technical parameters, and the performance evaluation of different sub-systems.
A statement from the military’s media wing emphasized that the Ababeel weapon system plays a crucial role in strengthening deterrence and enhancing strategic stability within the region, supporting the overall construct of credible minimum deterrence.
The launch of the Ababeel missile was witnessed by high-ranking officials, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, and the Strategic Forces Command, along with scientists and engineers from various strategic organizations.
General Mirza lauded the technical expertise, dedication, and commitment of all those involved in the successful test.
The achievement received commendations from the nation’s leadership, with President Dr. Arif Alvi, interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, and the services chiefs extending their congratulations to all members of the strategic forces.
This test follows Pakistan’s successful 2021 trial of the Fatah-1 Guided Multi-Launch Rocket System, which boasts a range of 140 kilometers and precise targeting capabilities.
In another recent development, Pakistan Air Force marked a significant milestone by commencing the production of advanced JF-17 Thunder Block 3 fighter jets on December 30. Equipped with improved radar and capabilities rivaling India’s Raphael aircraft, the JF-17 Thunder Block 3 showcases Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its military capabilities.
