Pakistan has successfully developed its first fully local mobile phone, engineered and manufactured within the country. The device, created under a pilot project by the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), is designed to provide highly secure communication for government officials.
Equipped with both locally developed hardware and software, the phone operates on a unique offline operating system, preventing internet access and shielding it from cyber threats. It supports only domestic SIM cards and allows communication exclusively with other secure handsets, ensuring confidential conversations across government departments.
Authorities say this achievement not only strengthens national cybersecurity but also reduces reliance on foreign technologies, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s technological self-reliance.
