Islamabad, October 5, 2024 — Pakistan has announced that it will observe Solidarity Day with the Palestinian people on October 7, 2024, to express its unwavering support for Palestine and its people in their ongoing struggle for justice, human rights, and self-determination.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the day will be marked with various national events, including rallies, discussions, and special prayers, aimed at raising awareness about the Palestinian cause and condemning the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
In a statement issued by the government, Pakistan emphasized its commitment to international efforts for a just and lasting peace based on the principles of a two-state solution, where Palestinians can have their own sovereign state within internationally recognized borders.
“Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom, dignity, and the right to self-determination,” the statement read. “We remain resolute in our support for the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state, with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.”
The observance of Solidarity Day comes amid growing concerns over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, where violence and displacement continue to escalate. Pakistan has consistently advocated for the rights of Palestinians at international forums, including the United Nations, and has called for stronger global action to end the Israeli occupation and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians.
On Solidarity Day, Pakistanis across the country will be urged to participate in peaceful demonstrations and solidarity events, as well as take part in a special national prayer for peace and justice for Palestine. Government officials, civil society organizations, and human rights groups are expected to join forces in reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding stance on the Palestinian issue.
The event will also be marked by statements and messages from political leaders, with prominent figures from across the political spectrum reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to Palestine.
This year’s observance comes at a time of heightened international attention on the situation in Palestine, with efforts for a peaceful resolution still underway, but the conflict remaining deeply entrenched.
Pakistan has been a staunch supporter of Palestine since its independence in 1947, and continues to advocate for Palestinian rights at global platforms, urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to work towards a fair resolution of the conflict.
