Pakistan’s chase was nothing short of spectacular as they reached the target in just 47 overs, losing only two wickets in the process, with 18 balls to spare. Captain Saad Baig also played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 68 off 51 balls, ensuring a comprehensive victory for Pakistan. Opening batter Shahzaib Khan contributed with a solid 63 off 88 balls.
Earlier in the game, India U19 had posted a competitive total of 259 for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs after being put into bat. Pakistan’s Mohammad Zeeshan emerged as the star bowler, claiming four wickets while conceding 46 runs in his spell of 10 overs.
Reflecting on the victory, head coach Mohammad Yousuf expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. In a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their official platform, Yousuf had advised the players to treat the match against India as a routine game, emphasizing the team’s keen focus and discipline.
“The boys are very keen, focused, and disciplined. Tomorrow’s match is like a routine game for us; we will try to win as we do in all other games and are fully prepared to perform,” said Yousuf.
This victory marks another memorable chapter in the rivalry between Pakistan U19 and India U19, with the last meeting seeing the Qasim Akram-led side winning a thriller by two wickets at the ICC Academy Ground No 2 in 2021. Mohammad Shahzad, the player of the match in that contest, had played a pivotal role with his contribution of 81 in the chase of the 238-run target.
