In a historic achievement for Pakistan’s agricultural and food industry, PakOlive, a leading local olive oil producer, has won a Silver Award at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) 2025 — the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil competition.
The company’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced in the Potohar region of Punjab, stood out among more than 1,200 entries from over 30 countries, impressing the international jury with its quality, purity, and taste.
This marks the first time a Pakistani brand has received such recognition at this global platform, highlighting the country’s growing potential in the olive oil sector. PakOlive’s success is being hailed as a major milestone for the promotion of Pakistani agricultural exports.
“We are incredibly proud to represent Pakistan on the world stage,” said PakOlive CEO Zahid Mehmood. “This award proves that Pakistan has what it takes to produce world-class olive oil. We hope this recognition will open more international markets for our farmers and inspire greater investment in this sector.”
The NYIOOC is considered the global benchmark for olive oil quality. Experts say Pakistan’s unique climate in the Potohar plateau is ideal for olive cultivation, and this recognition could be a catalyst for boosting production and exports.
The Ministry of National Food Security also congratulated PakOlive, stating, “This international recognition not only celebrates a company’s success but also endorses the efforts being made to promote olive farming across Pakistan.”
With increasing global demand for healthy, cold-pressed oils, Pakistan’s olive oil industry could be on the verge of a major breakthrough — and PakOlive’s silver win may just be the beginning.
