Skardu, August 11, 2024 — Pakistani mountaineer Murad Sadpara has died during his climb of Broad Peak, a mountain standing at 8,047 meters. Ayaz Shigri, Vice President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, confirmed the news.
Sadpara was injured at Camp 1 when a falling stone struck his head. Despite waiting for help, his injuries were too severe.
The Pakistan Army sent four expert climbers to assist in the rescue operation. They will now work to bring Sadpara’s body back to base camp.
Sadpara had previously reached the summit of Nanga Parbat for the second time. His death is a significant loss to the climbing community.
Climber Naila Kiani had urged the Pakistan Army on social media to send a team to help bring Sadpara back safely. Despite these efforts, Sadpara’s journey ended on Broad Peak.
