In a recent global ranking, Pakistan’s passport has been classified as the fourth weakest in the world, highlighting ongoing challenges for Pakistani travelers who face significant visa restrictions across most countries. The index, which assesses the travel freedom granted by different passports, placed Pakistan near the bottom of the list, only ahead of Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
According to the report, holders of a Pakistani passport can access fewer than 40 countries without needing a prior visa, and many of these destinations are limited to regions within Africa, Southeast Asia, and select Middle Eastern nations. The limited accessibility affects various aspects of travel, impacting work, study, and tourism opportunities for Pakistani citizens.
Despite the concerning ranking, some analysts note efforts within Pakistan to improve international relations and trade, which may eventually lead to improved travel mobility. However, for now, the latest ranking underscores ongoing diplomatic and security issues that impact the country’s global travel freedom.
