Pakistani singer and guitarist Haniya Aslam has tragically passed away early Monday morning. Her death was confirmed in a heartfelt Instagram post by Zab Bangash, her partner in the renowned music duo ‘Zeb and Haniya’.
Bangash shared a series of photos of Aslam, captioned simply with “Hanini ✨♥️,” paying tribute to her life and legacy. Reports indicate that Aslam succumbed to a cardiac arrest.
Aslam, along with Bangash, gained widespread recognition with their hit track ‘Bibi Sanam’ featured on Coke Studio in 2010. The duo’s unique sound and compelling performances played a significant role in bringing contemporary Pakistani music to the forefront.
The news of Aslam’s passing has led to an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow musicians around the globe. Many have taken to social media to express their grief and remember her contributions to music.
In a 2020 interview with Youlin Magazine, Aslam reflected on her lifelong passion for music, saying, “I’m not sure if I started pursuing music or music started pursuing me! I’ve always been really into music, almost to the level of obsession. I vaguely remember wondering how all the musicians fit inside a cassette tape when I was 4 or 5.”
