Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal and Awais Muneer delivered impressive performances on the opening day of the IBSF World 6 Red Snooker Championship 2024, securing victories in their respective matches.
Asjad dominated Mongolia’s Ulziitogtokh Davaasuren with a commanding 4-1 win, showcasing his superior skill. He notched two impressive breaks over 75 points, sealing the match with a final scoreline of 50-18, 75(75)-0, 82(75)-0, 0-73(73), 64(61)-0.
Awais Muneer, meanwhile, mounted an impressive comeback to win 4-2 against Mongolia’s Mendsaikhan Bat-Erdene. After trailing in two frames, Awais fought back to clinch the victory with scores of 64(64)-0, 20-45, 0-54(47), 54-10, 53-21, 46-15.
Looking ahead, Asjad will face India’s Pandurangaiah in his next match, while Awais takes on Singapore’s Jia Jun Ong. Later, Asjad will meet Iraq’s Alijalil Ali, and Awais is set to play against Israel’s Shachar Ruberg.
The championship, featuring 40 participants from across the globe, is divided into 10 groups. The top two players from each group will advance to the knockout stages, beginning on September 22 with the last 20 and 16 rounds. The quarter-finals and semi-finals are scheduled for September 24, with the final set for September 25.
