The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Australia’s Tim Nielsen as the new high-performance coach for the red-ball team. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the team’s preparation and performance ahead of their upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
Nielsen, a seasoned coach, will work closely with red-ball coach Jason Gillespie. The duo has already begun collaborating during the Pakistan Shaheens’ training camp, as the team gears up for the Test series. The first Test match is scheduled to commence on August 21 in Rawalpindi, followed by the second Test in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
Nielsen’s appointment brings extensive experience to the Pakistan team, having previously worked alongside Gillespie in South Australian cricket. Their partnership is expected to provide valuable insights and enhance the team’s red-ball cricket capabilities.
In preparation for the upcoming series, the PCB selection committee has announced the squads for both the national team and the Pakistan Shaheens. A 17-member Pakistan squad has been named for the ICC World Test Championship fixtures against Bangladesh, while the Pakistan Shaheens squad has also been revealed for their upcoming four-day matches against Bangladesh ‘A’.
